Venice Community Unit School District is celebrating a significant achievement as its new Venice Elementary School has been recently selected to receive an Award of Merit from the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) for excellence in the design of educational environments.
The award recognizes Venice Elementary School as one of just 22 projects selected statewide for the IASB Educational Environments Exhibition. Each project was evaluated by a panel of school administrators and architects. The Award of Merit is the second-highest level of recognition presented through the program.
District Superintendent Dr. Cynthia Tolbert shared the announcement with the Board of Education, describing the recognition as exciting news for the school and the entire Venice community.
“This is truly remarkable and exciting,” Dr. Cynthia Tolbert, district superintendent, said. “To have our new elementary school recognized at the state level and displayed alongside other outstanding educational environments from throughout Illinois is a tremendous honor for our district and community.”
Venice Elementary School will be featured at the IASB/IASA/IASBO Joint Annual Conference, commonly known as the Triple I Conference, November 20–22 at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago.
The award-winning school will also be displayed throughout the conference in the Educational Environments Exhibition, giving school board members, superintendents, administrators and educational leaders from across Illinois an opportunity to view the project.
The recognition marks another milestone for Venice Community Unit School District and its new elementary school. The project represents a significant investment in creating a modern learning environment designed to serve students, staff and families for years to come.
The district will accept the IASB Award of Merit on Friday, November 20, during the Triple I Conference, marking a special occasion for Venice Elementary School and the entire Venice school community.
